Wasted - Halloween... The Night Of (Reissue) album cover

I am deeply disappointed from this album. Since it's a reissue of the original version of the album from 1984, I'm not upset from that the quality of the sound is damaged, but from the fact, that the band used such cave-style sound which is often associated with Black Metal in their record (Which is, Heavy Metal). The 80's were the golden age of the Heavy Metal music with bands like IRON MAIDEN, SAXON, GRIM REAPER, and great many others. This album, for me, is boring and monophonic, no changes in the music, and for the least they could do is to re-record or to re-master it to sound better. The vocals here don't sound too much of Heavy Metal like.

The first song, "Chained", starts with a scream that sounds like VENOM vocals back in their golden and "True" era. The guitars here are written well. However, It's very sad that it sounds so crappy. "Evil" sounds well... evil. I'm not sure what massage the band tried to give with this song, but it could be a great old-school Black Metal track, even something from the alum "Hell Awaits". (SLAYER). "Luv N' Pain" sounds like one of MOTLEY CREW songs smashed together alongside with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES songs. Very odd to me, and despite the horrible quality, it's written very great. "Goodbye" really is a Punk Rock song to my taste and ears. It's really representing the start of the NWOBHM era. I don't really know why, but the song "Halloween" resembles me the movie with the same title. "Demons Re Calling" is an early version of the 90's Underground Thrash Metal. The solo here is extremely raw sounding. Too raw for me. I really don't have any idea of what should I add about the last two songs, that I didn't say yet.

Summing up in overall, I didn't like this album. This is Heavy Metal, not some kind of weird cave-era shredding Black Metal album. The least I would expect from them is to advance with their sound after 30 years. Still, It's raw metal and one who likes old-school underground Metal music will like it. But not me.
