Warlord - Maximum Carnage album cover

When one thinks of the term regenerative Death Metal? What comes to mind...something of the past well played into the present or something that is renewed but yet the same. Well depending on who you ask today's death metal scene deserves a blast from the past showing how it's really done. Working that deathly melodious welcome is none other than WARLORD UK, one of the harshest bands to come out of the England metal scene. Some might compare this band with the status of fellow metallers of CANCER, BOLT THROWER and countless others but what makes WARLORD-UK an act unto itself is the brutality that plays out. Presently the band has re-released its previous album Maximum Carnage via Transcending Obscurity Records in honor of its 20th year anniversary unleashing. Have to say that these gents have a way of twisting their thoughts into form when it comes to pumping out some severe serious mosh pit music. Let us begin to state what WARLORD-UK's plan on dominating the present day metal scene with Maximum Carnage.

Hitting the ears instantly is the bands own style of warlord metal that can be described as musical berserker rage that impales itself unto the listener starting with beginning song "Maximum Carnage". Shredding guitar riffs backed with fast hitting drumming along with some gut wrenching vocals make for an interesting piece but there is more to it that than. Frontman bassist Mark White displays powerful vocals that keep up with the intensity with the music despite the traditional death sound some are familiar with. White's clean approach is brutal itself without the use of vocal processors or the like which really stands out.

Rhythmically the group dominates it's tight formed sound that prevails though out the entire album, for each track is well composed. Displaying this is song "Alien Dictator" which blasts into distorted rhythm guitar chords that are chunky but well defined along with fist pounding drumming that leads you down a path into unknown space. Showing their straight forward lyrical concepts that yield interestingly into present situation world times the words for this song ring true "Deathly intruder hides behind a mask, a mask of normality. A machine structure in human sculpture, a new beginning of a new utopia". If you ask me these guys are dead on about the new world order or some might say the illuminati.

Without complicating this review any further WARLORD-UK has what it takes to strike out again this time stronger than ever and a new label to back their warlord metal. Band presently are in the works of a fourth future release with Xtreem Music later this year. This is one great album that still holds its weight into the present and that can be heard by the last two live (2016) tracks that the band did for songs "Maximum Carnage" and "The Fucking System". Fans of early OBITAURY, CANNIBAL CORPSE and DEATH have to check WARLORD-UK out. Great to see a band of this caliber together and ready to shred!
