Revenge In Blood
Warcry

I have seen many Metal bands located in Germany carrying the 'true' Metal torch in their songs, dressing code and general behaviour and that's fine since the metallic magic seems to have been molested too many times by wannabe heroes declaring their progressiveness/freshness and evolution while laughing at the so-called Metal clichés...the same time they grab on this specific background to sell their music. Anyway, WARCRY belong to this 'pure Metal and shining steel' category and "Revenge In Blood" is their follow-up to 2008's "In Battle for Vengeance" debut (not aware of it till now).
This band is passionate, the same way all young 'true' Metal bands are in central/northern Europe. Their music is honest, paying tribute to the Metal ideals (mostly Heavy/Power, with a glimpse of blackened Thrash) without sounding like their idols but carrying a relevant aura of metallic madness, filth and revolting attitude. The songwriting is quite simple but has enough tempo changes and some good leads. The drums parts could be better, to be honest, plus the vocals showcase dignity and loyalty but sound rather amateur at times. Headbanging moments are here for the thirsty metalunatics, and mucky sing-along choruses are offered richly to raise your glass singing with your pals.
Giving the album half a dozen of chances in a row (it does not take too much to swallow such material; good or bad moments strike instantly and deadly) and came up with mixed emotions. It sees like - and this can turn out to be a plague for fresh bands playing classic Metal music - there's a fuzzy picture mixing two ingredients that should stay apart as driving motives. Staying loyal and loving strongly the Rock and Metal magic does not by default mean you're instantly in an adequate level to a) write songs and b) record them. It takes hard work, filtering of influence and - most of all, in this case - an adequate level of musicianship to create songs that are solid and tight.
Fans of SACRED STEEL (now that's a band performing as solid as a rock), WIZARD, STORMWARRIOR, METAL INQUISITOR, OMEN and CIRITH UNGOL with (some of) GODDESS OF DESIRE, AGENT STEEL, RAVEN and DESASTER can give this album a chance and see for themselves. As said, the motive and atmosphere are honest (hence the cover take on the "Deathrider" classic, with ASKA/OMEN singer George Call co-singing as a special guest); the instrumentation needs lots of extra work, though. In case you do not want to take music that seriously, please disregard this text.
