Greetings to those who are reading todays review; I trust you are all well. Today we have something special, which blends together two of my favorite sub-genres of Metal in a nice melting pot of speed and brutality. Hailing from the Greek city of Trikala, we have WARCODE and their first full-length album, "Vortex Of Chaos". So let us dive in and see where this vortex may take us!
So I've decided to start this one off with the second track, "The Vile Truth". So as we begin the track, we start off with a little narration "The truth is we're obsolete" this to me, grabbed my attention straight away without a doubt, though not as much as the first riff, if I'm being honest. The track starts off fast and heavy with no gaps at all. It is a constant riff that keeps pounding; what this really is, is a power house of a track that beats you down to the ground, even more so when you try and get back up. The tracks progress with singer Pete bringing a harsh brutal form of vocals, which of course adds the Death Metal element, though if I'm perfectly honest, there is something missing with this track that I cannot put my finger on; but even still, I like it and feel that it is a good way to start off a record like this.
Through listening to this record, I have found that so far, there are different ideas that have been placed into this record from the influences to the style that this band plays, and of course, there are many ideas that I feel the band have been able to take from all areas of the extreme metal tree of life, though with how this record goes, it is clear that this band is trying to create something that is there own, of course.
The next track I have decided to add along to this review is the fourth track, "Venomous Words". The song starts off fast and dark with a very sinister riff style being played, as well as a heavy growl to accompany the tracks "hit to the face" speed. The track is very different to the last, and I must say, it holds a very strong Death Metal influence that keeps on going faster and faster, like a rapid machine gun ready to take down everyone in it's path which to me is incredible, for me I think that the achievement to this song comes down to the drums, which adds a very powerful "punch to the gut" feel; all in all this is something that would make any extreme metal fan proud, as when listening to it over a few times there is this strong CARCASS inspiration I keep hearing around the end part of the song, as if it is paying tribute to the grind class, in a sense.
To conclude. This album has something for everyone, which is fantastic to see because then, either if your a Thrash fan of a Death fan, then this will certainly be the album for you because together, mixing these elements so close together, brings something strong and dangerous in the making, to reality.<
