War From A Harlots Mouth - In Shoals album cover

You already know my opinion on the German Lifeforce Records and its bands. The kind of music it produces is just slightly better than the one that Ferret Records does. The fact is that WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH, despite its stupid name managed to kick my sorry ass with their last album Transmetropolitan, so I have high hopes for In Shoals. I just hope the band will meet my expectations.

Formed somewhere between 2005 and 2006, WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH have managed to release a split CD and a debut full-length album until now. Their sophomore release through Lifeforce Records is surely a definitive step in their career, so they decided to support it with a tour along with bands like BLEEDING THROUGH, DARKEST HOUR, BENEATH THE MASSACRE and more...

The bad thing is that not only the band's singer has changed, since after the departure of Steffen THE OCEAN's former singer Nico Webers was recruited, but the band's dynamic is also different. There is not the same insanity in the songs, the brutality is less and the guitars are more easy listening. I really preferred Steffen's schizo vocals and I definitely preferred the great dose of twisted guitars in Transmetropolitan. The production is kind of weaker, the songs much more simple with only some smooth Jazz breaks here and there and it seems that WFAHM has taken the road to being one more typical whatever-core band.

The only thing I realize is that there were only a few bands I liked from Lifeforce and they are ending up sounding like every average core band. Unfortunately, In Shoals is nothing more than a typical album.
