WAR FOR WAR is the spawn of Lord Morbivod a musician known also for his work with UMBRTKA and TROLECH. "Vez Smrti" is the fourth and latest release of the band from Czech Republic. The music of the band is categorized mostly as experimental or industrial Black Metal and the experimental term was the one that captured my attention and made very interested about the band and their new album. "Vez Smrti" proved to be a very good and well balanced release but certainly not experimental. Let me explain what I mean...
Lord Morbivod adds different elements to his music but do not expect crazy and complex experiments. In my opinion he follows a safe path that guarantees a good result. I don't believe that this is something negative but certainly I cannot characterize their music as experimental Black Metal. It simply isn't. What category suits their style most is industrial Black Metal. "Vez Smrti" has a pure Black Metal, with many industrial elements, basis and then depending on the song the proper touches and elements from a few different genres are added carefully. So industrial elements are present throughout the album, with great use of the keyboards, other times dominating and other times having a more supportive and background role. It also features a few folk and epic elements and some progressive influenced riffs and solos. The album as I said before is well balanced, has a good flow, interesting riffs and melodies and a very good production that brings out the best elements of the songs. There were some songs that from the first moment caught my attention such as "V Kleci", "Most" and "Uran uhlí železo". The only song that surprised me with its diversity from all the others was "Technologie Těžby", an entirely synths-dominated song with an upbeat dance rhythm.
All in all, "Vez Smrti" is good well balanced industrial Black Metal album that fans of this genre and not only will find very interesting. Despite some 'weaker' moments in its entirety the album is enjoyable and has a good flow.
