Wanton Attack - Wanton Attack album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: WANTON ATTACK; signed via No Remorse Records, hailing from Swedish grounds - performing Heavy Metal, on their debut self-titled album. (released September 20th, 2021). Since formation in 2021; the duo in question have only this here self-titled debut album in their discography so far. 7 tracks ranging at around 28:35; WANTON ATTACK arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Heavy-Metal developments.

Opening up with this atmospheric ambience in a graveyard setting "Demonic Forces Prevail" unleash this blistering barrage frenzy in rampantly rompy yet boisterously bouncy bludgeon, as amplified adrenaline trailblazes with rip-roaring shreds from consisting guitar/bassist N. Holm. Injecting an infectiously venomous rift which thumps with wildly rushing yet razor-sharp swiftness, surging with frolicking chugs and galloping firepower expertise that manifests with riveting grooves amongst a tight, punchline hook in which ramifies with uniquely versatile vehemence while thunderous substance organically throttles speakers with full force impact. The titular track enforces a solidly seamless slab on more rhythmic mayhem, slaying grinds lacerate with killer licks and bulldozing clobbering - where this MERCYFUL FATE style riffage merges a grandiose grandeur on vibrantly potent synergy with monolithic tempos that slams with persistent maelstrom technicality in a progressive yet concretely gritty manner.

"The Beast Will Be Tamed" rollicks with more fluid distortion, as gnarly fretwork melody stomps with piledriving pandemonium as frontman Micael Zetterberg rambunctiously pummels the set with steely precision & primitively raw finesse. His vocals are like a poor-man's version of King Diamond, but his signature pipes showcase throaty, but high-pitched remedy which skyrocket with salubrious mellow & rough yells which shout with euphonic èclat. "His Master's Voice" chisels with more volatile jumpiness, where rumbling reverberation trembles with melodious yet quintessential virtuosity - striking pursuits profusely experiments at a hybrid conundrum in sonically seamless synthetics which revel with meaty songwriting musicianship stability & outrè panache for good measure.

"Fatal Technology" fabricates complexly creative dexterity as dynamic bombardments belts a gripping spectrum on zealous attributes; as traditional, old-school psychedelic mettle articulates at a somewhat claustrophobic assimilation... the production is fine, however as an immersively intense boundary elements at some thrash momentums while implementing a borderline foundation on some IRON MAIDEN-esque flair from the Paul Di'anno era at least. The penultimate track "Crystal Ball" is a COMMANDMENT cover and has just about one of the most memorable screams on the record, that made me want to mimic that soar in similar vein to Halford or even Sean Peck! A speed-driven track that ends on a high-note (literally) with the John Carpenter-like synth work titled "Arrogant Humanity" mixed with this spiraling solo that's quite the abrupt and cryptic closure for this kind of record... welcoming however, but a bit bizarre for this type of Heavy Metal.

Bottom line; I am overall compelled to say that WANTON ATTACK certainly outdone themselves with this one, to put it simply - if you are fans of the aforementioned bands and are in need of some new material, "Wanton Attack" will hold you over for a bit. An enjoyable, and entertaining discovery that's worthy of spinning a few times - do check it out.
