As soon as I saw the cover for this album I knew I was in for a treat. I know they say you can't judge a book by its cover but it does make it a little easier sometimes and these guys have put a lot of work into the package so to speak. Fine detail is always a good selling point. You could stare all day at the cover and still not see it all there's a lot going on.
This album kicks off with a bang no messing around with long intros as some albums of this genre tend to do. No need to set you up with atmospheric sounds just straight into the guts of it. Black metal with loads of great melody with wicked guitar solos that soar above the blackness if you are like me and love guitar then you will love this album. An ode to Satan call it what you will, a call to metal pure and simple. Hold your head up proud this is an album which stands up tall poking its head up above the crowd. No imitators here. This is worship metal the hymns and the alter calling you to sacrifice yourself to the gods of Black music.
"The Highest Form Of Human Suffering" is an epic track with loads of power riffing and then diving into slow chugging that invigorates the soul.
Although there was no long intro they do still have some of the atmospheric sounds that are prevalent in this genre and "Axis Mundi" is an example of that. It's not a long piece so it fits in nicely with the rest of the album and is right in the middle just to break things up a little.
"Cleansed Of God" is a rip snorter that tears out your throat and defecates down it. The opening scream sets the tone and drags you down into the abyss.
This is Black metal at its highest level with these guys showing great talent and skill and not being another one of those 'paint by numbers' Black metal bands. These guys have mastered the art of Black metal as well as pushing the boundaries making for a release that is extremely entertaining.
