Formed in 2017 the German band VERITATES arrives on their second album with "Silent War" by Doc Gator Records, two years after their debut Killing Time, if on the first album the musicality referred much to the European heavy/power metal of the 90s of bands like ELEGY, things have change and evolve a lot for the new work. Counting on a more aggressive vocal and imbued by the spirit of the American band ICED EARTH, the album "Silent War" begins with "For My Thoughts" bringing a beautiful introduction to the new work of the band, with a striking chorus the song presents to the listener to many elements present throughout the work, well-worked guitar solos, nice backing vocals and a reflective lyric that you can feel in each riff. Next up we have "Evil", follows into a fast pace that reminds the first album, with powerful drumbeats, energic guitars, with lots of rhythms and vocal changes, the second track stands out for the synergy between musicians being very enjoyable to me.

 "My Own Way", a very intensive thrash metal come out from nowhere, and bring something fresh and diversity for the work. After the majestic blow in our ears, the band brakes, almost stopping, bringing the first ballad, makes sense to make clear that I am not the biggest fan of ballads in the universe. Although I must say that "Mirror" and "Alone" are in no way unpleasant, they have nice notes, rhythm and lyrics, are well-constructed and manage to bring emotion and reflection on, especially for the pandemic period that we spent little, yet, yes, are the lowest points of Silent War in my opinion. So right after we have the masterpiece of the album, right in the middle "Psychologist of the Dead" the longest and powerful track, with approximately ten minutes it is possible to feel all the affection and preparation in each musical chord, with a great beginning and ending, stretching and contracting throughout all the way is possible to have different emotions and perceptions in all changes, making it my favorite.

"Fear Sells" is, deeper and heaviest, not in speed, but by the strong riffs and emotion on the vocals. The interesting point here is that the song grows in feeling and intensity as the minutes goes by preparing us for "Faceless Man" that follow the same path adding a dark energy to the way, although the second is more linear. "Silent War" brings the album names with galloping drums and classic power metal vibes ending it with honor. Concluding, I think that VERITATES new work is a very good album, nothing really new, but fits almost always well. The production is clean and great, have a large range between the songs, and all instruments talk to each other. If you like Power and Heavy Metal, you certainly should check it.
