"Politics Versus The Erection" is on the shelves somewhere near you this election season. In this album by VENOMOUS CONCEPT, BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp brings forth some riveting tales through this intriguingly titled album. In the first song, "Simian Flu", the message peeking through is that of a society on the brink. Pair that with the heavy pace of the grindcore going on in the background, and you have a hell of a good song. This is especially for the typical anarchist that believes the system is nothing but corrupt and is only in place to keep them more docile and rigid in their own living circumstances. All throughout the album, there is this sense of the chaos going on in the world today. It is almost as if the album is trying to portray a message about how bad things just may be...
With other songs, such as, "Eliminate", "Colossal Failure", and "Septic Mind", you may be able to string together a small story line of what this album may just be about. The societal norms of today are what something grindcore/punk has always somewhat been about at its roots. Anarchy is at the highest it has ever been, and this album lets you know just how this group feels about it, as long as you are willing to decipher the lyrics. In the song "Shadows", you can feel the energy they are trying to put behind the music. The deep angry voice, with the madness going on throughout the background, it's almost as if those shadows are somewhere both evil and good.
The violence and destruction you may be looking for in your music is surely not to be missed on this album. The drums are fast and violent, the guitar lines are paced right up there with them. With songs titled "Broken Teeth", I'm sure you can envision just how this album may satisfy a certain itch you have for anarchy and destruction. So, if you want to get lost in your own personal idea of what the world is, you may just want to find this album, put in your headphones, and get lost in your depiction of anger.
All in all, VENOMOUS CONCEPT has delivered an album that the grindcore community needed! From their first album in 2004, all the way to this one, they have kept their roots strong and continue to deliver quality sounds to the listeners. Go out and snag a copy today, and if you're into grindcore, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
