From Bandcamp, "In 2022, VEILBURNER present their sixth evolution to the world in the form of a self-titled musical juggernaut, a statement piece simply titled "VLBRNR." Expect aural oddities from nightmares undreamt and tales of arcane world-building. But most of all, expect this alien thing to not alienate you. These are earworms from another world. Let them burrow and wriggle into your consciousness, and be a host for their propagation." The album has ten songs.

"VI (Vulgar Incantations)" is the first. The opening sequence is dark and dissonant, but not without a little melody, followed soon by guttural vocals and machine gun drumming. The background is peppered with atmospheric elements that keep the dissonance from fully engulfing you. "Envexomous Hex" features some bizarre, almost avant-garde moments in the music, which follows repetitive riff strikes over and over again. The vocals vary with slight changes in the landscape, going from grey to black and back and forth. "Interim Oblivion" opens with some more heavy, dissonant tones but again the background is bubbling with a dark energy. Some of the music sounds like it comes from the bowels of Hell.

"Lo! Heirs to the Serpent" is another deeply dissonant track with eerie and odd guitar rhythms. There are some bent notes in the leads which gives the song a creepy, almost spectral sound. "Burning the Veil" features some heavy effects in the rhythm guitars, along with some frightening background tones. Alternating intense passages of fast, aggressive guitars combine with slower ones that I would not call mellow per se, but the tempo changes are noteworthy. "Unorthodoxagon" features an odd timing meter, eerie leads, and some meaty, dancing bass underneath. Chaotic sounds abound, and the structure is loose, but don't think that the band has lost sight of it.

"Repulsed by the Light" begins with tense, clean guitars, and the sound carries forth in the main riff. From there, it wallows in dark tones of grey, as the beast takes refuge in a cold dungeon with bones to chew on. "None so Hideous" is a heavy, dissonant number nearly devoid of all melody and chunky rhythms carry much of the sound. The song moves with a bit of a groove that is easy to bang your head along with. "Exhibitionism in Limbo" is a short, mellow instrumental with smooth, clean guitar tones and a melancholy backdrop. "Ruin" closes the album. Fat, weighted key notes open the song leading to a lumbering, massive sound out of the riff. Chaotic elements are dialed up from there, in a raging stew of boiling liquid, eyeballs, and various body parts.

There is a reason why the album cover is made up of intense shades of red. Red signifies fire, passion, love, and even anger. All these qualities are present on the album, even love. Love is a universal term that can mean a lot of different things. In this case, it's the love of the profound energy that fills you when listening to each song. It could move the listener to want to break things. For others, it might fulfill their longing just to experience something this extreme and impassioned. Whatever itches for you, scratch it with "VLBRNR."
