VANDALLUS is an experienced group of musicians spawned out of the pure passion of 80's rock and metal. Their great songs are in the vein of late 70's to mid 80's. Most of them were part of ETERNAL LEGACY and other bands, as Tyler comes from DEADIRON. This gives them a great experience in Rock N Roll music that they use to offer us this Punk Rock record. They try to spread the art and sound of a decade that can't be forgotten, thanks to high energy music and performance.
This late 70's – mid 80's oriented Punk Rock album offers various sounds from this great period of music, especially Punk-Rock and US Hard Rock. It opens with a Punk Rock track titled "Infected", which is really dynamic and reminds of old classic bands as BUDGIE or SCORPIONS, with dynamic tempo and a cooler part before the storm of the guitar solo. It is a really pleasant song. It is also composed by 80's Rock songs, like "Trash Talking", soft but completely old school-tempo song, contrasting with the first song, showing the wide range of music that this band can create. "Sundown Haze" is another old fashioned song that recreates the 80's too, through a quiet voice and the guitar play, with a more powerful chorus. Inviting and delightful, it is another side of their skills.
In the same style, we have "Shock" that will be more powerful and inviting thanks to a faster tempo with great backing vocals, reminding one of good SCORPIONS songs with its introduction, and its tempo refers to their cooler songs. The chorus is like a trip back in time, a completely 80's mood in its interpretation. "Shake Down" stays in the same style, with guitar and bass duo and harmonic drums. Guitar solos make it sound more in an old-fashion way, and it works really well. "Loaded" offers a different sound in the tone of the album with nice chorus and a cool guitar solo, still in the 70's – 80's style, but in their own style. The sound is vintage, but with current skills and passion.
This album also includes Speed / 80's Rock songs like "Heart Attacker" that is a great 80's Rock-like song, with a dynamic combination drums and guitar, with a voice reminiscent of some METALLICA songs on their first albums. Nice guitar riffs are always a good choice. "Vandallus" sounds more like a fast but cool song, with a dynamic combination between guitar, bass and drums, with a guitar solo cleverly supported by the other instruments, nicely inviting. To close this album nicely, "Bad Disease" offers a slow and quiet opening that switches to a Rock N Roll song as we used to hear them in the 80's, with powerful voice, guitar solo, supported by the drums and the bass. A nice farewell before the end of the album.
This is the result of a good experience that they acquired while playing in various bands, and of passion for good music. Ultimately, it is a good late 70's – mid 80's Punk Rock album, with all the different styles we love: a powerful voice, great solo guitar, more cool sounds, and this combination between the instruments that made 80's rock sound so good.
