Uthullen - Dirges For The Void album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: UTHULLUN; signed via Wolves Of Hades, hailing from the United States of America - performing Black Metal, on their debut album entitled: "Dirges For The Void" (released November 13th, 2020).

Since formation in 2019; the unknown artist has only an EP entitled: "Sunless" (released August 26th, 2019), and this here debut album entitled: "Dirges For The Void," 7 tracks ranging at around 40:34; UTHULLUN arranges an intricately designed formula of some heavy-hitting Black Metal developments.

Opening up with a blistering amplify of revelling distortion; bludgeoning adrenaline, and progressively technical mayhem - UTHULLUN unleash this chaotic bombardment within this sonically seamless frenzy. "Sunless" manifests this cold, but chiselling aesthetic in sinister trailblazing which soars with wildly rushing yet razor-sharp stabilities in gnarly but chaotic reverberation that rumbles while shrieking with terrifying certainty and cavernous but refined style of core elements embody a fluidly polished progression on brutally creative tremolo-picking which engages a thrilling sense of organic substance and fundamentally flexible overtones on wickedly rad utilisation.

I could not find a trace of the member's names; which is expected within the realm of Black Metal, but I can certify that the vocals shriek with raspy throatiness & tight roars...while the pipes skyrocket with rawly rough meatiness merging within the relentless onslaught of the punchy jumpiness of the triggering calamities in the surging yet primitive maelstrom of the guitar fretworks in which showcase a borderline foundation on killer laceration shreddings.

"Silence" attributes an atmospheric dose on melodic tempos that scour with ominously riveting momentum; thunderously injecting an infectiously audible bass flamboyance that thumps with gnarly grooves, fierce firepower & frolicking chugs that tenaciously rips with rompy sturdiness that quakes with ruthless pandemonium while the quintessential virtuosity maliciously merges striking pursuits with rampantly vicious solidity. "Penitence" rapidly swifts with nimble dexterity; dynamically implementing extreme harmonies while the piledriving drums hammer with speedy malevolence, quirky yet volatile cymbals crush speakers with salubriously stampeding perseverance while persistently forging immensely intensive fogginess...gravitating towards this dark but blackened panache that will rattle skulls with weighty vigor. Distilling a crunchy synergy that showcases this symbolic but blasphemous ritual, on experimental finesse.

"Ecstasies" ensembles an arbitrary crescendo on vehemently rambunctious pummellings that stomps with concretely gritty distinctives, while the other worldly profanation of profuse yet robust noise terror revolves around a chunky oscillation on mad yet hellish fury...crafting this piercing construction in that necessarily aren't incredibly extreme but still punishing enough as a granted grandeur on motivating yet headbanging enlightenments that will still marvel this overarching yet possessed profound to break chairs over other chairs. When we advance into "Pyre"; UTHULLEN attributes a signature sound on masterclass but detail-oriented songwriting musicianship that's rather splendid, this one materialises a hypnotic outburst of slaying penetration while this jazzy-esque bass line forges this systematic silver-lining that's just a great pleasure to listen in on.

The penultimate track: "Returning Home" is fuelled with utmost pent-up aggression, and unrestrained uproar. When you listen to this one; this sense of overwhelming heat assembles within your soul, spellbinding you to tempestuously throttle with storming veracity & bulldozing bestiality. Overall concluding "Dirges For The Void" with the finale epic: "Downed Rivers Of Spilled Blood;" a melancholic yet meticulous track that will engage a captivating sensation, losing yourself within this perilous BM world.

Bottom line; I am compelled to say that UTHULLUN certainly delivered a fascinating, and intriguing Black Metal offering that most definitely deserves a good handful of spins. "Dirges For The Void" is a mesmerizingly majestic release that has a bunch of replay value, while remaining memorably original for good measure. These guys are an enjoyably entertaining group, and are a must listen for any Black Metal maniac looking for a distinguished discovery. Check them out!
