Formed in 2019 hailing from the great city of Dublin, Ireland we have UNMAKER. They are seen as rising stars of the Irish Metal scene with a recent support slot with US Metal legends NIGHT DEMON and also took part in the METAL TO THE MASSES 2023 competition with sets that went down a storm. They are a band that has a classic 80's Thrash Metal sound that is mixed with that modern Death Metal sound. May 2023 finally saw the release of UNMAKER'S debut album titled "Limb From Limb" which is set to be a huge release. The album opens with "To War" and the band wastes no time in jumping right into it. Filled with heavy grooves right from the start with vocals that take command of the track. The band sound on fire here as this is a real circle pit starter. With a vicious guitar solo that rips through the track this all makes for a really cool song and a great opener.

The title track "Limb From Limb" builds from the start and is filled with more heavy grooves (let's be honest you can never have too many). The drums really impressed me on this one but each band member gets their moment to shine on this track. The riffs sound sinister at times and it is a really great track. After that we have "Control" which has more of a modern feel to it than what we have heard so far. The chorus here is surprisingly quite melodic and the song feels like more of a journey than the rest here. But there are some epic sound lead guitar lines and solos too. Interesting track but I did enjoy it. Then we come to "Point Break" which opens with some clean guitars for a change. This is a very melodic song with the band showing a different side of them. It is very creative and is an instrumental track that plays out like a jam. This one does show some great musicianship and song writing. It really stands out to the rest of the album.

Going out with a bang we got the final song of the album with "Breathe". You can hear that the band are tearing it down one last time. Filled with killer riffs, pounding drums and heavy grooves this is a massive track. There is a big sounding chorus here and a cool guitar solo that adds to all the chaos. "Limb From Limb" is a great album which shows the potential for UNMAKER to do well with themselves. There are lots and lots of cool riffs and plenty of heavy grooves going on and the vocals sound great. The songs all feel like being hit by a ton of bricks. You can hear some of those classic influences but mixed in with that modern sound. You think you know what is coming next but UNMAKER really mixes it up to keep the listener on their toes. This album and band are totally worth checking out.
