Unhoped - Sonic Violence album cover

When it comes to thrash metal, I like raging drums, chugging riffs, and sweet solos. Now add a Death Metal edge, and what you have is UNHOPED. "Sonic Violence" is these Finnish boys' 2nd full-length album, along with two other EP's.

You simply could not ask for a more rock-out, in your face sound. Their mix of Death and Thrash is just great. The guitars are an extra brutal style of those classic thrash riffs, accompanied by some helatiously fast and relentless drums. From start to end, I can't help but head bang (without hurting my shoulder and neck more) as the insatiable raw metal fills my ears.

The vocals are mainly harsh, but they do mix some clean vocals in, including the old school power chant where the whole band shouts along. The song melodies, despite the speed, do exist, just enough to make it seriously badass! And yes, there some fucking nice solos throughout the album; "No Man's Land" can irrevocably prove that. It really makes me want to get behind the kit and just go apeshit.

In all, the album is a very well rounded mix, and a very fun ride to take. The last track, "Pies & Friends", really shows that this band has a fun side as well. After being ripped through "World Gone to Hell" and "Warhead Sunrise" in all of their badass glory, ending with a fun song like that always neat.

I enjoyed the album very much. I listened to it multiple times, and you can't sit still to it. It chugs along ready to destroy anything in its path. For all you Thrash fans, it definitely won't disappoint. To my Death Metal fans, you'll have to judge for yourselves; either way, I'm listening to it again right now, so...
Check it out, it's pretty awesome.<
