As Death Metal evolved after the coming of the Second Wave of the genre in the early years of the 90's, due the personality of the musicians, many genres appeared into it. It's how a musical genre becomes fragmented, but sometimes it's dangerous, because many fans start to think that they must hear one specific genre, and that a waste and not truth. You can like any Metal genre you want, and become in love with English quintet UNFATHOMABLE RUINATION at the same time. One bit on "Decennium Ruinae" is what you need to do so.

Their musical work is based on a form of Death Metal that blends the Brutal Death Metal outfit with a heavy load from Old School Death Metal (sometimes, touches of influences of CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL on "Covenant" age, and others). So it's massive, brutal, fast and skull crushing, but in terms of final art, they know how to arrange their songs, so be prepared to be obliterated with class. Samuel Turbitt (a known producer, mixer and who did fine mastering on underground) is the one who built the sonority for "Decennium Ruinae". His mixing and mastering make the band's brutality be evident, but using a clean insight to define the musical instruments. It's a strong and good sonority, indeed.

The four tracks that exist on "Decennium Ruinae" are statements of brutality that can erode your bones into dust with a small blow. "Suspended in Entropic Dissipation" (a violent and nasty song, filled with extreme guttural grunts and technical tempos), "A Withered Embrace" (the contrasts between fast and slow parts is really excellent, showing the good technical approach of bass guitar and drums), "The Great Contaminator" (this one shows perfectly the fusion between Brutal Death Metal and Old School Death Metal elements, with nasty and sickening guitar riffs), and "Disciples of Pestilence" (a massive and brutal onslaught, but some groove traces can be heard in many moments, a consequence from early Metal influences that entered their work) are really very good songs that will satisfy extreme Metal fans.

As last words on this review, it must be said that UNFATHOMABLE RUINATION still have potential to use, but as "Decennium Ruinae" shows, they're on the right path to use it soon or later. But when they do it, they'll crack the Earth into pieces!
