Underhander - Persona Non Grata album cover

UNDERHANDER is Hard Rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band worked for about three years on their newest album "Persona Non Grata" until it finally got the chance do see the light and hit the listeners ears. That being said, we are going to talk about it.

The opening song from the album is "Empty Void" and it starts with a cool guitar riff and the bass n' drums as well. The vocals are good and different in a way, but they fit the song. The song has some nice touches on the vocals as Kim used some effects on his voice at some parts. Its a cool song, but I think its too repetitive.

"Step Into The Ring" starts with a heavy as fuck guitar riff and some really heavy bass sound and drums as well. There's a different kind of reggae vibe on it, but it soon come back to the aggressive riffs. Yes, its a different song.

"Stone Burner" starts out with a groovy guitar riff and this song reminded me a little bit of PANTERA at some points. The vocals are good and the instruments are heavy, but nothing that caught my attention. "Bull The Horns" starts out with a great guitar riff that has some groovy on it and then there's the drumming that gave it a whole new ambiance. I like how the vocals sounds here and there's some "jumping" kind of vibe that people would definetely love enjoying it live.

"Handle Of A Broom" starts out with an introduction speech made by a child and its a dark one. The guitar soon joins it and created a dark and kind of sad vibe, but thats a good thing. The vocals combined pretty much with that kind of instrumental and I find it better. There's a calmer part where you can hear the bass lines better and there's some great ambiance here, good surprise.

"When There's No Love" is probably one of the most Hard Rock songs here, but still heavy as fuck. "Without A Doubt" has a cool guitar solo and its okay to listen to. "Runaway" starts out with a cool guitar riff and it has some nice percussion and guitar n' bass arrangements as well. "Together" follows the same lines from the previous songs...

"Underhander" is the title track of the album and it has a cool guitar work and by far its the differentest on the whole record. The highlight here goes to the guitar work and specially the guitar solo that was wah-wah inspiring.

"Light The Sky (Remix)" is the song that closes the album and it starts out with some weird sounds that reminded me of something from space. Its just an intro.

UNDERHANDER wrote and released a cool album, but I was expecting to listen to a Hard Rock album, as the band defines themselves and as I have written on the beginning, but its definetely NOT a Hard Rock band. It has a lot of heavyness, groovy guitar riffs and powerful vocal... the bass and drums are great and tight as well. Its a cool album in a general way.
