Under Eden - The Savage Circle album cover

Many things can go wrong in an album. In the case of Under Eden the production does all the damage and what appears to be a good album is generally ruined (not to use another word) by a terrible production. That said, don't think that you can't understand what everyone's playing or something like that. No, the problem actually is the sound level of each instrument.
The band formed in Minnesota in the fall of 2000, originally as a trio (Eric Thon on vocals joined later). Three years later the demo version of the songs in Savage Circle appeared. Now in 2005 Black Lotus Records unleashes the band's debut album to the world.
Drums. Too much drums in here. Actually the drums are way in front covering anything else (yes, even the guitars). The vocals are somewhere in the back, but way back. Sorry but such productions after 1990 are simply unacceptable. The music of Savage Circle is a mixture of Death, Black (mostly cause of the speed) and Metalcore. Though not something extraordinary as a package, the compositions sound well crafted and detailed.
The problem is that after a few minutes I couldn't keep my ear from sticking on the dominant drums. Fans of bands like Hatesphere and other modern Metal acts might find this one interesting but to be honest, with a production like this one I find it impossible for someone to listen to the entire album non-stop.
