Burning Bright
Two Fires

Frontiers Records has been many times responsible for releasing very good Hard Rock/AOR albums during these days where the Metal market is dominated by the extreme genres. Now, if you are a young metalhead you must go through this heart breaking genre to learn unknown words like "passion", "feeling" and all the terms that during the 80s made us crying over unfulfilled romances. All the old-farts out there know exactly what I am talking about.
So, this is the case with this band that started like a project in 2000 in order to keep the flame burning carried by bands like JOURNEY, FOREIGNER and SURVIVOR. TWO FIRES released two albums and indeed, gathered much publicity based on highly experienced musicians who already had their share upon the Hard Rock stage. Again under the convincing pressure of Frontiers Records president Serafino Perugino TWO FIRES are back.
If you go through the band names I mentioned above then you will understand where musically TWO FIRES are standing on; many references to JOURNEY's feeling especially during Steve Perry's days, SURVIVOR's passion and -last but not least- FOREIGNER's lyricism. Seriously, listening to "Burning Bright" I got the warm feeling of 'I know that tune" that is so common among the AOR releases. All the AOR lovers know what I am talking about and with "Burning Bright" they will get the entire package performed by musicians who belong to this music territory. Kevin Chalfant has a great and crystal clear voice with so many references to Steve Perry that becomes addictive. The guitars are of the same high level hitting many sensitive chords like the almost ballad "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid" with the Sambora influences and the underlying "Faithfully" JOURNEY trend that tops things off. All these great ingredients are served with a killer production making tracks like the up-tempo "Answer To My Prayer", the guitar driven "Shattered Without You", the groovy "Burning Bright" or the piano based "All For One" sound like classics.
The good thing with these albums is that you know exactly where you are spending your money on. Pure AOR from the heart is what TWO FIRES are about and I bet all the fans can look the other way from all the sticking influences and enjoy this album.
