TUMBLE is a power trio from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2022. Their retro hard rock/psychedelic sound pays tribute to the heavy bands of the late 60's and early 70's. According to lead guitarist and vocalist, Liam Deak, who explains how it all came together "when we began cutting our teeth in Toronto's open mic circuit and then quickly started playing shows. In October 2022 we replaced our drummer with Will Adams and with Tarun Dawar on bass, already in place, and myself on guitar/vocals resulting in our current lineup. In January 2023 we got in the studio with producer/musician Ian Blurton and recorded our first EP, "Lady Cadaver" (released on May 5, 2023) and with this release we cover the lyrical topics of paranoia, drug use, and evil spirits" The band has lots of songs ready to record and plan on getting back in the studio later this year after a summer tour with OCCULT WITCHES, but for now, we'll have to settle for this two song EP.

Opening strong with a definite early ZZ TOP vibe coming at ya on "Lady Cadaver" complete with gruff, vocals over a nicely paired party riff and chorus. The pace is picked up midway through with a catchy bridge backed by a flashy but subdued guitar solo, and something I certainly didn't expect, a brief drum solo tossed in. The song ends on a strong note with an aggressive melody and vocals that develop an attitude. On to song number two, or should I say the last song, "The Plague", is an instrumental that jumps out with a strong stoner/psych riff and pulsating backbeat that compliments nicely with its playful and meaty rhythm. Overall, a velvety, catchy song that I think could have been aided by some vocals.

With only two songs on "Lady Cadaver", one being an instrumental, they leave a lot to wonder about just how good TUMBLE can be and what level they can take it to. Musically they are tight and adroit, but the verdict is still out on the vocals. I am looking forward to more music from this band, the arrow is definitely pointing up.
