Death/Black Metal is a genre with many different ways to be done. Some prefer to have an Old School appeal (when it's just Death Metal with satanic themes), others prefer a real mix between both genres, but always one must have in mind that there are many ways of playing such a genre. And the North American duet TRIUMVIR FOUL made its choice, as can be heard on "Onslaught to Seraphim".

The music is a form of classic Death Metal with some darkened touches of Black/Death Metal (similar to what SARCÓFAGO did on "I.N.R.I." and "Rotting"), with contrasts between slow and fast rhythms (but have in mind that they prefer to use slower tempos in the greater part of time, what reinforces the Death/Black Metal side of their music), when fast it's nothing far of the classic approach, with brutality and aggressiveness being explicit on their music. It's nothing that one didn't hear before, but in their hands, things become personal and good. Andrew Oswald (recording, mixing) and Dan Lowndes (mastering) worked with the band on the studio, and created an abrasive and brutal sonority for the album, having that classic crude approach on the instrumental tunes. And it fits on what they want to express on their songs in a very good way.

All the songs are a very good experience for the fans of extreme Metal genres, and for a first time on the album, "Flesh Diocese" (a song filled with aggressive and nasty guitar riffs and screams, with a perfect balance between weight and distortion), "Domini Befallen (to Doom)" (this one has a classic Death Metal appeal that is hard to resist to, with an oppressive work of bass guitar and drums), "Bašmu Enthralled, Horned Creations" (slow and bitter at the beginning, with that bitter and funereal feeling of the early days of the 90's, but soon explodes into something faster, with very good riffs), "Slither of Corruption (The Demise of the Three Serpents)" (this one shows a very good set of extreme Metal hooks, and what very good grunts and screams), and the fast and brutal "Onslaught to Seraphim" are the right ones.

"Onslaught to Seraphim" doesn't present something new at all, but's a very good and honest album. Congratulations to TRIUMVIR FOUL for such an offering.
