Travel Now Journey Infinitely

Norway has used us to some weird experimentation, but this time it is surely not a 'normal' release we have here. So, what happens when you try to mix noise with 'noise'? Definitely not something that a normal person could listen to without ending up being mentally deranged. I really mean it! After listening to Travel Now Journey Infinitely I have some major problems with my behavior towards the rest of my fellow citizens. Do not even try to get close to me people!
When I read that musicians like Ivar Bjornson (ENSLAVED, ex-BORKNAGAR, GORGOROTH), Ice Dale and Grutle Kjellson (both also in ENSLAVED) were involved in TRINACRIA I thought that I was going to face a Black Metal band that would either be more melodic or more avant garde. I didn't know that TRINACRIA's debut album would be so experimental that I would regret getting it for a review.
I have read some really encouraging reviews about this album all over the internet, but I really never understood why so many people consider this album to be so great. Ok, it is always nice to experiment and create sounds that express your inner feelings, but if your inner world is similar to the music of TRINACRIA better go see a doctor now!
I was trying to think of a way to describe the band's sound, but there is really no name you could give to it. I can just say that TRINACRIA have mixed Black and Doom Metal with a lot of noise. They are mostly based on monotonous riffing, like they do in the album's first song Turn-Away, where they actually play the same riff from the beginning until the end of the song! There were only a few moments I felt attracted to whatever is it that this band has crafted.
Such releases make me feel like an old school metalhead (despite the fact that I am pretty young). It is like I consider ACCEPT to be the most modern band the Metal scene has. I have lost track of the whole experimentation thingie and I think that there are times when we should put down some things and re-consider what is Metal and what is NOT Metal. Oh, and by the way, I want to avoid rating this album. Check their Myspace page for samples and you will be able to judge by yourselves.
