TRALLERY, pronounced as "Tragedy" (/?tr?d??di/) is a metal band from Mallorca in Spain. Since 2009 they have combined elements of Thrash, Death, Groove Metal to Rock. Here we can expect speed and experimentation. The band have toured since 2013, sharing the stages with Sodom, Lost Society and many more. The recent release "Spirit on stage" is a live-recorded album, generously featuring 13 tracks.
"Intro + Spiritless" starts with a tight and punchy start. Elaborate drum hits and 'thrashy' riffs begin, then joined with throaty, 'shouty' vocals. This track gets the movement going for an energetic performance ahead, and we can hear that the crowd is loving it. "Abominate" begins aggressively with the rough vocals and speed full band. There are many different changes and aggressive sounds pulling me in different directions here, which is all part of this music's impact. "The Attraction Remains" has a continuously throbbing thrash guitar undertone, and shouting vocals that are full of rage. The mood cools down a bit in "Hollow Stare" where the guitars lighten up, the vocals are more melodic and calmly sorrowful, that is until the chorus, where they become strong and gutsy. A progressive instrumentation follows, rounded off with the vocals screaming the title of the song - "Hollow stare".
"Time is Over" also makes an entrance with lighter, melodic guitars, leading into the skull crunching vocals and rhythmic guitars. Though the lighter tracks seem to be less chaotic, I personally find they have more impact in the song structure. In this one, I find the passion of the vocalist really comes out, sharing dark emotions with the audience.
Complexity and speed make a return in the last three tracks. "Hunt to kill" is energetic, punctuated with its blast beats, rhythmic momentum and aggressive vocals. Finalizing the performance with "Catalepsy", the energy of the band has not tired. At this point they are rounding it all off with a very heading-bang worthy piece. I particularly like the bass-filled break downs that come in, before the song steps up even more towards the end - impressing the audience with tight drum fills and guitar solos.
In TRALLERY's high energy release "Spirit on stage" I can hear a mixed palette of different metal sub-genres; notably Thrash and Hard Rock. The vocals are full of feeling which really stand out to me, with the instrumentation tight and punchy. Even though this is a well recorded live-set, all instruments still sound clear and balanced. Sounds coming from the audience are not 'in your face' like you can get it in some live recordings.
