Time Walk - Beyond Eternity's Grasp album cover

Nowadays, the interesting mixture between Death Metal and pure Hardcore is far from a new thing. Still, a lot of bands keep experimenting with it. TIME WALK is one of the many bands in the two genres, and they weren't formed that long ago, in 2015. Their music wants to be heard too. They released "Path to Exile" - an EP in the same year of their formation, and it contained five songs. Thus began the journey of this newly formed band, which is pretty interested in war, death and dark lyrical themes. A year later, "Promo Tape" was released, and it was a two track demo. This year sees the birth of "Beyond Eternity's Grasp", their longest release both in songs and minutes.

Although all of their releases are independent, they are totally recommended if you're invested in the two genres. This new EP was released on January 27th, 2017, making it on the list of releases that fall under the radar, and I assume the same happened to them, because the end and the beginning of a certain year tend to do that to certain bands. With 24 minutes and 6 tracks and some amazing artwork, lets dive into the EP a bit. "Runick Echoes" starts off with surprisingly heavy riffs, reminding you of the old school roots of Hardcore, and the vocals follow so. Although the riffs vary between a Death and Heavy Metal style, the overall atmosphere is pretty Hardcore-influenced. Not a lot of care is put into speed, but more into the playing style, which is purposefully slow. "Fury of the Sands" keeps everything tight with, Metal instrumentals, heavy drumming and guitar work, but the vocals are still Hardcore-influenced. Perhaps things would sound even more wicked with some growls? Just thinking out loud!

I did enjoy this EP a lot, because there are various influences here that vary from HATEBREED to any classic Death Metal band such as OBITUARY. Interesting band! Give the rest of the tracks a spin too.
