Normally i'm not interested in reviewing EPs, indeed I truly enjoy much better a band and its music in its full plenitude. But with the new dematerialized / digital only music trend and the new direction of the music publishing market, the EP format, is on the hype and cool again, and I should admit that finally it's a wise move for a new group in order to introduce themselves to the world.
Anyway, the excerpts were captivating enough to convince me, so I accepted to make this review for his new, self titled EP!
Hailing from London, the band was formed in 2010, by Ash, Tom, James, Josh and James, are reaching for a same goal, under the same focus, they are sharing an identique enthusiasm and an undying passion for Alternative Melodic Metal. Helped by a long term friendship!
The clever mix of furious guitars and Pop melodies, with some Proggy moments and Hi-tech arrangement, is clearly uplifting. The musicianship is also in the first class category. Those young blokes have excelled themselves in giving their best trying to beat much older and established acts at their own game (read compatriots TESSERACT).
TIGERS OF JUNCTION STREET have a very personal sound and a very distinctive style impersonated by a high-pitch singer with falsetto overtones similars to Claudio Sanchez from COHEED AND CAMBRIA with a less intriguing character!
Those five tracks are a good overview of their capacities...Now it's time for a full lenght album!
