Inside The Sickened Mind

Thrasherwolf

I am very much in awe of what I hear, and even though the band isn't breaking any new ground, they are making me enjoy the path they are following right now. And if I have anything to say about it, I would advise any record company to get off their lazy arses and sign THRASHERWOLF a.s.a.p..

THRASHERWOLF are a relatively new player on trhe Thrash metal market. That is, if you consider making music for eight years as a short period. These guys from London, England started in 2016, and after four years thought it was time to release their debut album “We Are Revolution”. I have to admit I quite liked that one. Now, another four years later, the band deemed it time to enlighten us with their second album, which they dubbed “Inside The Sickened Mind”. And when you listen to the music that is being played, that title does make sense, at least at times.

Seeing the genre that THRASHERWOLF is moving in, you can only conclude that their name is quite apt. They have listened to their peers and made themselves into a mix of some of the great names of Thrash Metal, whilst still being able to be recognisable as THRASHERWOLF. And in comparison to their debut alum I als have to say that “Inside The Sickened Mind” is not a jump, but quite a leap forward for these Londoners. All the songs on the album make sense, but will be able to give you a wide variety in styles, tempos and intensity, making my listening session before starting to review this into vary interesting experiences.

It does make me smile when I hear some of the songs. Take the title song for instance. There is not a song on here with more influences from the greats than “Inside The Sickened Mind”. You will here SLAYER, EXODUS, but also early FLOTSAM & JETSAM and even some METALLICA pass you by. You will undoubtedly have more of those moments during your listening to this album, but that is what makes THRASHERWOLF into what they have become today; a very competent Thrash Metal band. On “Shameless Loser” your thoughts might drift towards the hayday of DARK ANGEL and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, as some parts are reminiscent of those bands.

I could list all the songs on “Inside The Sickened Mind” and their influences, but that would take away the appreciation of the way that THRASHERWOLF plays their Thrash Metal. I for one am very much in awe of what I hear, and even though the band isn't breaking any new ground, they are making me enjoy the path they are following right now. And if I have anything to say about it, I would advise any record company to get off their lazy arses and sign THRASHERWOLF a.s.a.p.. “Inside The Sickened Mind” is released independently, and only available on a record label (Vicious Witch Records) if you want this one on a cassette tape.
