THOUSAND YEAR WAR come from the far and frozen north of the American continent and specifically from Anchorage, Alaska and strike with their debut album "Tyrants and Men". The band has released an EP, "Shadow of Colossus", in 2009 which eventually got them signed with Abyss Records.

"Tyrants And Men" is a melodic Death Metal album forged in the battle principles of AMON AMARTH, the aggressiveness of HYPOCRISY and the galloping riffs of IMMORTAL. All these influences make a fun to listen to record with lots of galloping riffs, occasional blast beats and melodic passages here and there. The record counts nine original songs and one cover and spans for approximately 10 minutes. All nine songs are pure melodic Death Metal with the exception of "The Storm I Ride" which is Death N' Roll style.

"Tyrants And Men" is a solid effort and will not leave disappointed the fans of melodic Metal. While the songs do not thrive for originality (as 99% of the records nowadays) their passion and dedication for what they do makes the record worthwhile to pay attention. It is a good start for a new band and the cover of "The Storm I Ride" is also killer but if they want to do something more they should try to find their own sound and put aside AMON AMARTH.
