Those Who Lie Beneath - An Awakening album cover

Do you know what it the worst thing in a band? When its members talk shit without thinking before they open their mouths. These guys appeared out of the blue with this album and a contract with Metal Blade Records and I happened to stumble upon some of their interviews. One of them was saying that they want to be better than every extreme band and create a music that will contain brutality, technique, melody, almost everything. And that's where they said that they don't want to end up like CANNIBAL CORPSE who have been doing the same thing for years.

What I would like to tell these guys is that "An Awakening" is a fine technical Death Metal/Deathcore album, but guess what, you are not special! You are not so different from many bands out there! There are thousands of bands out there that play this kind of music and the fact that you use from blasts to beatdown parts is not some kind of trademark!

"An Awakening" is a pretty decent release that people who are into this kind of music will enjoy, but I don't think it offers something different (as THOSE WHO LIE BENEATH's members state). Their sound is a combination of technical Death Metal and Deathcore (kind of like the latest JOB FOR A COWBOY's works) with some melodic parts in it. The vocals are also pretty nice for this kind of music.

Anyway, all in all "An Awakening" is a decent album but nothing amazing. The fact is that these guys should concentrate on their music than talking shit about bands that have entered the pantheon for a reason. Act like you are professionals gentlemen and not like kids!
