This Or The Apocalypse - Haunt What's Left album cover

It is one of those moments that a band makes you shut the fuck up and admit that you were wrong all the way. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania based metallers THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE leave the "Monuments" era behind and hit back with an album full of solid heaviness! The US quintet offers the outcome of a lot of work and here we are to admit its excellence!

Sophomore releases are always a huge and hard step for bands, since they either set the foundations for a bright career or they put the "looser" tag on a band, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE did their homework and studied hard for this test. Having a not so positive opinion because of their debut album, these guys managed to knock me out from the very first seconds of "Haunt What's Left". Strong, solid and aggressive Metalcor-ish music that gazes towards the Swedish shredding scene and the US breakdown influences. Even though it sounds like this, TOTA is not your typical Metalcore band. If you look every aspect of this album individually you will find out that there is nothing that non attractive for every fan of modern aggressive music.

Produced by Josh Wilbur (ATREYU) and LAMB OF GOD's own Chris Adler, "Haunt What's Left" isn't afraid of unveiling its darkest secrets to anyone who dares to press the "play" button. Strong riffing, variable tempo that ranges from typical Metalcore parts to MESHUGGAH like breakdowns, clear and heavy sound, beautiful vocals and a rhythm section that will definitely make you grab your "air drums" once again.

Yes, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE have entered the worldwide modern brutal music scene with an incredible album that will please even the most demanding fans in my humble opinion. And whoever listens to "Subverse" and doesn't get dragged into TOTA's world should surely check it out, it must be serious...
