Straight from Cheshire England, 5 guys are out to slay the UK Metal Scene. Mixing Metal and Deathcore, THIS IS TURIN are here to literally melt your ears as they blast out heavy riffs, fast drumming that you can barely keep up with on 9 tracks that you want more as soon as you reach the end. The band has already been named as Kerrang! MCN Live and awarded the Manchester Metal to the Masses; they then went on to play at Bloodstock Open Air Festival. If this doesn't shout awesome, I don't know what does.
From the start, you're hit in the face with a wave of heavy riffs and fast drumming that makes you want to get up and move. The starting track of "Consume Repeat" is a good first impression to listeners that haven't heard the band before. It's a strong start to the album, normally you wouldn't get that, but with THIS IS TURIN there is no playing around, they are here to make a statement, bring something new to the table, and this is exactly what they have done.
With its strong structure, they even throw an interlude into the mix; "Transmission" is used to break up the nine track album, even with its eerie sounds in the back ground, they still found a way to put some heavy drums and a melodic riff. That is the way it needs to be done. Let's not forget to mention the brilliant solos that you hear throughout the album, some of them come from nowhere and others just fit in so well, you wouldn't believe it. There was one particular song that really stuck out for me; it was the final track of the album, "Castigo Copus Meum". Now this one started off slowly, the drums are quiet and it's almost as vocalist Darryl Jones is whispering right into your ear, but then all of a sudden it kicks right back into all of its metal glory. Like the rest of the album, there's interesting riffs and heavy drumming, the type of stuff that you really want to headbang to. Once again the guitar solos in this song are great, they never let you down. THIS IS TURIN is showing you what the UK is made of.
