THE TROUSERS is a rock band out of Budapest, Hungary. They have six albums to their credit. The sixth, "Animal Gun," was released on CD and digitally last year but is now enjoying a wider release through Sliptrick Records. The album had its genesis as early as 2019, but due to Covid plus several long breaks the album wasn't finished until the summer of 2022. Sadly, band founder and guitarist Péter Locke passed away the same year. The album is dedicated to his memory.

THE TROUSERS is often described as a garage rock band, and indeed their approach to rock-n-roll is simple with no frills. The themes they focus on and the lyrics they wrap around them are uncomplicated and easy to relate to. No navel-gazing or existential funk going on here, just good times and good rocking. And although "Animal Gun," is dedicated in memoriam, it is still a very positive and uplifting album.

"Animal Gun" comprises ten tracks and stretches to over 40 minutes. It features guest appearances by vocalist Rita Csányi and keyboardist Zsolt Derecskei, both of whom played on previous albums. The keyboards add an additional depth to the tracks and Rita adds a nice level of harmony.

Long-time fans are declaring the album the band's best. It kicks off with "Hope Dies Last," with a riff reminiscent of DEF LEPPARD's "Rock Brigade." It is one of the stronger tracks on the album. Other standouts include the steady rocking "All Over Shakin' Down," the groovy "The Great Beyond," the hard rocking "Come Undone" and "Vanish in the Haze."

To be clear, THE TROUSERS is not a metal band, nor have they ever pretended to be. But if you are looking for a fun-loving, good-rocking time, you'll want to pick up this album and, even better, catch them live.
