Higher Ground
The Summit

This album is 70's inspired classic rock with a whole lot of 80's hard rock edge and energy. The goal for this album as quoted in their band biography was to create a nod to the 70's and they do that with style. This band plays big sounding and full of energy rock n roll with its head in the past, as well as the present.
Singer Michael Klemme has a mean set of lungs with a good strong voice that combines brilliantly with the rest of the band. Some of the guys were childhood friends but have all been playing in other bands for some time but finally have been able to come together to bring us this release. This has culminated in an album that is very cohesive and fluid with great skill, but not losing that 70's jam feel.
"One way highway" is an amazing example of the 70's era rock with awesome guitar and vocal harmonies making this song probably the strongest of the album. "The Calling" is another great example of this with some cool guitar and synthesiser tradeoffs. These guys create well crafted songs.
The song "Only human" is a track that although 70's in feel would fit snugly in this current era showing the agelessness of music which ever era it is inspired by. These guys have got the whole keyboard and guitar thing down pat. It can be difficult to get the mix right but these guys are all over it "Water to wine" is perfect with its mixture of keyboard and guitar melding together to make a thing of beauty.
The track "Not my country" takes me back to the early 80s with guitar rock just coming into the scene again when glam was just starting to be strong. Reminds me of the age when Bryan Adams was king for a moment with his style guitar rock. "The higher ground" has some cool keyboard soloing at the end and the song "All die young" is a belt out rocker to end the album finishing up on a strong note.<
