The Ruins Of Beverast - Foulest Semen Of A Sheltered Elite album cover

This release is one of those that you keep listening every day, not because it is so amazing, but because you are trying to understand what exactly is behind these dark and complex sounds. I have been trying to find something to write about Foulest Semen Of A Sheltered Elite for many days, but I can't come up with something...

This band/project or whatever it is, was formed in 2003 by NAGELFAR's (RIP) drummer Alexander Von Meilenwald. Following the Black Metal ethics, THE RUINS OF BEVERAST have already 5-6 releases out there. By the way, Beverast is Meilenwald's own derivation of the word Bifrost influenced by the old Norse term for the bridge between Midgard and Asgard.

The music this band plays is kind of difficult as I said above and needs many listening sessions before you truly start to enter this band's world and understand what exactly is going on. The slow, doomy at times Black Metal with the epic passages and the almost hypnotizing melodies are things that will capture you and drag you into the world of THE RUINS OF BEVERAST. The production is far from being characterized as clean or shiny, but this heavy and raw sound is exactly what such music needs. The monotonous (in a good way) guitars with Alexander's growling vocals dress this album in a mysterious veil, while some faster songs with blasts retain the pure Black Metal aesthetic. I guess Foulest Semen Of A Sheltered Elite pretty much will cover the needs of many black metallers.

Even though we live in times full of technological achievements, I would advice you not to try to form an opinion by what you find on their Myspace page. Their music is hard as I told you, thus you won't spend so much time listening to a specific song on the Internet, and you don't have the desired audio quality.
