Outer Space Outtakes
The OddEven

Alternative Metal tendencies are deeply rooted on what happened during the turn of the 80s to the 90s: the coming of JANE’S ADDICTION was a battering ram for Alternative Rock, with “Ritual the Lo Habitual” falling as a nuclear bomb on the parades of those days; and the Grunge Rock success was just the last shovel on Metal domain on the parades on USA. But such facts helped to new tendencies on Metal to be born, and it’s clear that today, more than 30 years of those days, the echoes of such facts are heard on “Outer Space Outtakes”, the new full-length of the quartet THE ODDEVEN.
Weed and E.T. (the founding members of the quartet) joined forces with Frank Marchand to produce the album, and it was recorded at Waterford Digital, and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. It’s clear that something modern was chosen to start to build the sonority, but there’s a touch of something organic on it as well. It means that the band can be clearly understood, but showing weight and aggressiveness when needed. As mentioned above, they are into a trench into Alternative Metal ways, inheriting elements from acts as HELMET, ALICE IN CHAINS, MONSTER MAGNET, ALTER BRIDGE, bits of Groove Metal, Stoner Rock and more on this way. It’s heavy and catching, aggressively adorned with charming melodies and filled with a manic energy.
Besides the names written above, they show personality and everything that fans of Alternative Rock tendencies like. When dealing with moments as “First Encounter” (an abrasive moment filled with groove and intense work on bass guitar and drums), “Innocent” (that shows the same elements of the previous, but with a more melodic groove and excellent guitar riffs and solos), “Come Home” (an introspective and excellent ballad with charming harsh vocals), “We Gonna Go”, “Suffering” (this one is shorter, but with excellent rhythmic shifts), “RIPG”, “Free”, “Soul” and “Come Home (Extended Version)”, the fans will understand why the band’s name is causing great expectations on many writers of Alternative Rock ways.
“Outer Space Outtakes” is very good release, and the name of THE ODDEVEN is a fine one for those who seek new names in the Alternative Rock scene.
