Thundering Herd
The Kyle Gass Band

KYLE GASS renowned for being not-Jack-Black in TENACIOUS D keeps himself busy while the other main man is busy being an actor by playing with THE KYLE GASS BAND, a band dedicated to writing about the real problems in the world. No ham on your sandwich, evil and some guy who you call Uncle Jazz. It's strange and fun.
The album kicks off with a very Classic Rock inspired song called "Cakey" about, what I can only assume would be a horny fat chick nicknamed Cakey. The song sounds like something straight out of the 70s and is only one of the many sounds that take place throughout "Thundering Herd". "Bro Code" straight up sounds like a song written for TENACIOUS D but ended up used here, a song full of harmonies and to anyone who thought the world needed a song dedicated to the bro code, full of meaning. It's short and sweet, but it fits in nice in the album. "Hell or High Water" is a more Modern Rock song, slower and about what evil is, whether it be a cruise ship, your gardener or according to this album it's more likely a sandwich without any ham. It's a strange tune, no ham.
Probably the weirdest song is "Uncle Jazz", a very jazzy zazzy song and some cat (jazz slang) who can really swing. Basically what you'll gather from this song is THE KYLE GASS BAND have written a Jazz tune dedicated to a guy who might be an alcoholic pedophile.
THE KYLE GASS BAND is just as strange as you should expect if you came here because of the members. If you're expecting the new TENACIOUS D album, this isn't quite it, the albums lyrics are a bit more real and not quite as humorous. The songs on "Thundering Herd" are fairly creative, but only lyrically and vocally, there aren't really any songs that stand out because of their instrumentals.
