Quite recently at Metal Temple I have been assigned some brutally heavy albums, not that I'm complaining mind, so it was nice to give my ears a little break with this Hard Rock treat provided by Aussie quartet THE JURY AND THE SAINTS via their upcoming self-titled album.
It looks like New Zealand are starting to come back under the Hard Rock radar; of course legends AC/DC hail from there and last year I came across newcomers MASSIVE. THE JURY AND THE SAINTS are already showing promise this year as they have had their single played on BBC's Radio One, one of the UK's most popular radio stations. So for a band just starting out, this is a huge thing that can happen.
This album provides me with a lovely sense of nostalgia; taking me back to the days of being a teenager, relaxing in the summer time listening to any kind of Rock music with my friends. The phase I am taken back to is an Indie Punk phase as throughout the album I am reminded of Scottish stadium fillers BIFFY CLYRO and Chicago Pop Rock foursome FALL OUT BOY.
The content of each the songs provide a rebellion vibe that will stand popular with today's youth and I can imagine thousands of fans singing along to them at arenas. Particularly with tracks such as "Last Time", "Monday Morning" and my personal favourite track on the album "Freedom Fighter". These contain fist pumping energy, passion, dirty riffs, meaningful lyrical substance and great vocal work.
Ending on a positive, stadium like note with the appropriately named "Make Our Mark" symbols their potential to climb further up the music ladder this year.
So from this glowing report I thoroughly enjoyed this Hard Rock specimen from the new talent. I highly recommend to those who are fans of MASSIVE and BIFFY CLYRO, it's an amazing feat that will be playing on everyone's iPod, CD player, however you like to enjoy your daily tunage.
