A weird feature of these days is that many bands are still looking back to the past, and maybe they're think "hey-I-can-play-this-again" without thinking that music, in any genre you can think of, needs creation as a driving force, and not a compilation of all clichés used back in the past being used once more without giving them a new outfit. SOUNDGARDEN can be said as a fine example of taking what's old and turning it alive. And the duet THE HYDDEN is musically talented, but must do better than what can be heard on "Vagabond Songs".

Their music sounds like a mix between influences of Rock, Blues, Hard Rock, Grunge Rock and something else, with some complex parts that points to Progressive Rock touches, but all that they can seem is like a poor copy of bands as LED ZEPPELIN, BLUE CHEER and some others. The main subjective of these words doesn't mean like a need to reinvent Rock 'n' Roll, but of making music with your own identity, what the duet lacks a lot. The production is very good. Although the band has an old-fashioned musical approach, what demands an organic sound quality, they used a modern approach, or, in other words: recorded everything with an organic and old way, but using the modern technologies of recording, mixing and mastering. All is right in this part.

Songs as "For Those Who Play" (clear references to 60's Rock 'n' Roll), the Progressive Rock arrangements of "Changing Symmetry", the monumental weight of "Magnifier" and "On a Mission", and the catchy groove that permeates "Mother Earth" are the best songs of the album, all of them showing that they're really talented, but they still need to improve a bit more, to show their personality, because all songs awakes that idea that "I-heard-this-before-somewhere". The band really can do something better than this set of songs Well, "Vagabond Songs" has its charm, but THE HYDDEN still has to evolve and provide something that can play and show the band own identity.
