THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORN's new album entitled "Morning Star Rise," was one this reviewer wasn't a fan of. I think this band has the right idea on sound and technique, however the execution wasn't there. In my opinion, some of the music and lyrics are heavy and forceful on this album like they should be, but the sound was off. The vocals seemed muffled and were extremely difficult to understand.

I think that during a live show THE HOUSE OF CAPRICORN may not have this issue. Some of the music was heavy, and I quickly noticed how easily mosh pits would form in venues. In that case, the listener may not be so concerned with what the vocalist is saying, they are more into the feel of the music and the atmosphere it brings.

"The Only Star in the Sky" is a lighter song, but I thought the band overpowered the vocals.  The lyrics were hard to decipher unless you really listened, and even then I had a hard time.

"Covenant's Ark" has a really cool and creepy vibe using background noise and guitar strums.  It reminded me of music you would hear in a haunted house or horror movie. At only two and a half minutes, there is no vocals. It was definitely an interesting way to break up the CD.

I definitely think this is a band that has an idea and is willing to stick with it. However, I think the albums they are producing could benefit from better sound production. They need to hook listeners with their lyrics and make them memorable. This will be a huge factor at live shows, where they want fans engaged and singing along with them. I think with a little studio help, this band could be killer.
