Prime Motivator
The Giraffes

Is it possible in the year of 2009 to enter yourself to the punx-family yet succeed to keep your band in a non out of date condition? If your band is THE GIRAFFES you surely do! Hailing from New York's Brooklyn and formed in the late 90's, the band - after releasing a couple of a full length albums - is returning with Prime Motivator, an album which allows me to name them as the NEW MODEL ARMY of 2000.
Prime Motivator starts with the self-titled track in a dry way like telling us there is no need for odd introductions; we are THE GIRAFFES. Prime Motivator (the song) is what made me hope in this band's European tour and in my chance to see them perform one day on stage. The album continues with the song Done which has more of a Stoner/Doom canon with dusty and vagrant style until you pass on the third track, Diskowarts, and their call for the listener to dance. This is how the time passes when you hear this album, and I mean that in every song you may have a totally different mood, from a rubbing atmosphere to a melancholic one and again returning to a bouncing feeling. To be more specific, what their music is all about is a mixture of Rock 'n' Roll, Heavy and Punk with simple riffs and DEPECHE MODE-ish vocals.
Based on their biography, lyrically they were inspired by Aaron Lazar's (vocalist) mysterious bad heart condition experience, which pushed him close to death. Luckily this happened only to grow their already existing inspiration and Mr. Lazar is alive, kicking and ready to receive our full support.
