The Gathering - Disclosure album cover

Hello, my name is Karila, I am a very hyperactive 20 year old Metalhead who moshes to SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, wrecks shit to CANNIBAL CORPSE, and claws her way through a sea of Metalheads to get to the front of BEHEMOTH's stage. Having said that, listening to THE GATHERING's "Disclosure" really slowed me down and this Speedy Gonzalez is not acquired to such heavily soothing relaxation.

The new age atmospherics vibes of both "Gemini I" and "Gemini II" really had me in a mesmerized but disoriented state of mind, a constant push-and-pull. These songs tended to drag out an atmosphere that was so shallow, like a thin fog; it's eerie and uncomfortable. But when I finally started to hear a song take on a defined structure, I enjoyed the song more. "Paralized" and "I Can See Four Miles" were my favorites, for their seamless and cohesive structures of brass and string orchestration and the absolutely angelic voice of Silje Wergeland. In spite of any uncomfortable moments, her voice never fails to be the most flawless aspect of the album.

Listening to this album felt to me like someone giving me a Swedish massage: at first you have no idea what's happening and you feel some sensations of discomfort, but ultimately I understood that these songs are meant to put you at ease.
