The Quantum Phase
The End Machine
The End Machine “The Quantum Phase” is album number three is follow up to album number two “Phase 2”,the first album to feature Girish Pradhan (Girish And The Chronicles and Fistbourne) on vocals after Robert Mason (Warrant and ex Lynch Mob) officially left the band Girish Pradhan is an up and coming singer who appeared last year as vocalist on Joel Hoekstra's 13 album “Crash Of Life” . The addition of Girish Pradhan to the band is testament to the keen discernment of Frontiers Music president Serafino Perugino who is also executive producer to The End Machine who recognised the incredible talent in Pradhan ,which he brought to the attention on the band. With this album The End Machine have surpassed expectations ,exceeded their artistic aspirations and feel they have evolved and written the album of their lives.
This is the first album that I have actually listened to by The End Machine., I have heard and own Girish And The Chronicles albums I am impressed by his vocals and the range he has ,also his versatility so I was really looking forward to hearing this album opus. ”Black Hole Extinction” the opening track is very bold, makes a statement, grabs your attention and wets your appetite full of heavy riffs, hooks and excellent vocals. ”Silent Winter” the single has an atmospheric intro, which then bursts into life a faster tempo, a strong delivery, catchy as hell chorus a superb heavy/melodic track with a killer guitar solo from George Lynch .”Killer Of The Night” melodic in places ,a heavier feel and tone in others, some pounding drums ,vocally superb very much sounding like Dokken in their glory days. Could easily be included on a film or TV soundtrack for sure, a great track which sees the album stepping up a gear. ”Hell Or High Water” is a high octane, no nonsense hard rock number the track works very well with Pradhan's vocal prowess and presence, adding to that George Lynch delivers another fine solo and performance.
”Stand Up” is just a straight forward hard rock track which does what it says on the tin, the melody and song structure are OK but made to sound better by the vocal performance. ”Burning Man” and “Shattered Glass Heart” bring together that blues and rock sound have that Tesla, Whitesnake and Dokken stamp in the melodies and delivery .The latter has that swagger, catchy hooks galore and catchy chorus, great musicality and Lynch delivers another great solo, ”Time” I feel it is the weakest track on the album, I found it to be a bit flat, lacking that killer delivery of the previous tracks. ”Hunted” starts with a nice synth intro, which then follows into a great mid 80's sounding track the influence is obvious a much better improvement on the previous track .”Stranger In The Mirror” has a strong riff, the main backbone of the track with a nice bass and drum melody mid track by Pilson and Brown to add some dynamics to the track. The album closes with “Into The Blazing Sun” which is a strong end to the album in the same vain as the previous tracks.
This is a great album is it better than the previous two? I will have to go listen to them to find out! One thing I can say for sure is that I enjoyed this album it does have a couple of tracks (“Stand Up” and “Time”) that are delivered with the same great quality as the rest. The highlight tracks for me are “Silent Winter”, ”Killer Of The Night” and “Shattered Glass Heart”. George Lynch delivers a stellar performance, some great runs and solos. Jeff Pilson has done a great job on the production, while the stand out star on this album is Girish Pradhan a great addition to the band, a superb vocalist with a bright future ahead of him. Highly recommend this album
