Wars And Rumors Of Wars
The Chariot

It was about time I get one modern Metal band that I at least happen to know. I remember when they paid a visit to Greece for a gig; a friend of mine was constantly busting my balls to go with him. As it seems, not going back then was probably a mistake, since THE CHARIOT earned (at least) one more new fan with this album.
I usually don't spend much time on such bands, mostly because the majority of them end up sounding noisy and meaningless for no real reason. THE CHARIOT though, offer a sophisticated album with a lot of work being put in here. When Scogin left NORMA JEAN he wanted to create something on his own, and that's when THE CHARIOT came to life.
After two very good albums (Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, And Nothing Is Bleeding and The Fiancee), the band returns with its third full-length work through Solid State Records. THE CHARIOT, for those who don't know them, combine the chaotic modern Hardcore sounds with some Punk elements, as well as some slight math touches, you know, what many bands are trying to do today. Well, guess what. THE CHARIOT at least do it successfully! Scogin's bestial vocals give the essential schizoid atmosphere the tracks need, while the guitar duet crushes your bones with its heavy riffs and short epic passages. The rhythm section is solid as a rock, creating something for the others to step on and do their own thing. The NORMA JEAN residues are definitely here, but Scogin will find his own way. As he says, the art is creating something out of nothing.
I guess that fans of this music will not only like the album, but will find a true masterpiece. Even if I am not a fan of this music, this band managed to put me down and haunt me with its dark, yet aggressive tunes. Recommended!
