Today I am reviewing a band that is made up of several different genres of metal. THE BROWNING is made up of Metalcore, Electronicore as well as Deathcore and Crunkcore. Until today I had never heard of Electronicore nor Crunkcore and I can't say I am displeased with these new to me genres. They have found a way to perfectly blend them all together and make something utterly fantastic. "Geist" is one of the oddest but brilliant albums I have heard all year. When I first started to listen to the album I was really worried that I was going to hate it, but that changed really quick. So let's go on and get this review started!

The first track is called "Sick Minds"  which immediately reveals it's electronic side. I was truly awestruck by this song. The mixture of the electronics and vocals by Johnny McBee were absolutely amazing. And the way the Drums played by Cody Stewart, Guitar by Brian Moore and Bass by Rick Lalicker all blended into each other gracefully. This is a prime example of how to start off an album. The next song "Beyond Stone" is brutal as fuck and made me want to start a pit in my living room with just myself. This electronicore thing is amazing. I have obviously heard band use electronics in music before but THE BROWNING has taken it to a new level. I absolutely love the way the vocals glitch out and I have talked about this on my review of PARASITE INC's newest album. Another thing I loved about this song is the clean female vocals that are completely haunting.

The third song "Final Breath" really shows off their mixture of genres. The Metalcore shows through the other genres in this one but the Electronicore is definitely still there. Usually I would really hate clean vocals on such a metal song but it really works with this song. The next one up is a track called "Everlost" which has a slight darker feel to it in the beginning but then boom, in your face metal. This one is different from the others so far as it's a tad bit slower not by much though.

"Optophobia" is the fifth song up on the list and this album just keeps getting better and better. This song is a really badass song and I will definitely be listening to it in the future. This whole album is fucking sick but the only one that threw me off was "Carnage". I was just not prepared for there to be any rap. It wasn't bad at all it just surprised me. I highly recommend everyone giving this album a listen at least once especially the last half of the album that I would rather you listen to and not my opinion. You need to see for yourself why you need to add it to your collection!
