I first discovered THE ANSWER when I interviewed them and saw them open for AC/DC on "The Black Ice Tour" in January of 2009. I reviewed their album "Everday Demons", which was then on The End Records. I was also pleased with the variety of songs and style found on "Revivial". They recently release their fourth full-length for Napalm Records and this should be the album that truly gets them the recognition they deserve.

It has always provided me a challenge to properly pinpoint the sound of this Irish Blues Rock band. Clearly they echo the 70's style of ZEPPELIN, CREAM, FLEETWOOD MAC, HUMBLE PIE, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, THE GREATFUL DEAD, at first leaving nothing to the imagination, but on a closer glance but they also incorporate many other melodic styles like THIN LIZZY, DEEP PURPLE, RUSH and even THE CULT.

On the new horizon with the rise of such acts like SCORPION CHILD, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, WINERY DOGS, etc. I think THE ANSWER will find their niche'. Napalm like Nuclear Blast are now signing non Metal bands to expand their horizons, and open up today's youth to that acid Rock 70's vibe. I just watched my DVD of "Almost Famous" last night, and then read Cameron Crowe's interviews with all these seasoned veterans; especially, Jimmy Page, Lindsay Buckingham, Greg Allman etc. I can see how this music is timeless, and in effect THE ANSWER are really a glorified version of STILLWATER, albeit, with more passion, verve, heart, and groove.

This record was produced by LITTLE ANGELS front man Toby Jepson. The opener "New Horizon" is quite effectual and reminds me of STRANGEWAYS or BLUE MURDER. Their first single is for the peppy track "Spectacular" which has a real BEATLESesque "Sgt. Pepper's" flavor to it.  "Speak Now" has a prominent AEROSMITH "Nine Lives" cattiness to it. The steel guitar and lethal tendencies of "Baby Kill Me" has that CC&R JOHN FOGERTY vibe, while "Burn You Down" is more accessible but with a hint of FOO FIGHTERS and THEM CROOKED VULTURES nipping at the neck.

"Somebody Else" has a lot in common with THE DARKNESS with its upbeat tempo, minus those horrible screeches by Justin Hawkins. "Concrete" has a bad habit of sounding a bit like PEARL JAM who also just released "Lightning Bolt''. Damn if "Call Yourself A Friend" does not climb the "Stairway To Heaven" with its opening acoustic melody. The closer "Scream A Louder Love" could easily be the next single, with its anthem qualities.

This album flows quite well with a punctuated jive opener and kick start closer. Overall, this album is more upbeat, and more of a solid ball of rock well worth the revival of everyday screaming, so rise to the occasion to seek THE ANSWER.
