Nothing to Lose
That Rock Guy

THAT ROCK GUY is the stage name used by Adam Barclay, one of the hardest working Australian musicians of the last two decades. Originally a hired axe for various acts, the year to thousand and seventeen has signified the moment of freedom when all the experience and road covered have provided the security to finally enter that specific realm of freedom and determination when you know that you finally have Nothing to Lose, as the title of this album so accurately portraits. Comparisons with acts like DEF LEPPARD are undeniable but in this debut album by THAT ROCK GUY, the volume level has been cranked to eleven and the energy has been adjusted to double time to fit the current times, and the talent of this seasoned musician in both vocals and guitar, along with a flawless work of production and a rocking and awesome cover art to make this record an unmistakable feature of its author.
A proud example of development of talent and determination to succeed despite the various obstacles that can be found on the road and that maybe only exist and are enhanced through the pessimist's mind, which is completely the opposite of what this record is all about. If I was forced to define this album in just one word, it would have to be "Attitude", the songs are full of spirit and a boldness rarely seen in debuting acts these days even by a well experienced and knowledgeable musician like THAT ROCK GUY, the freshness transmitted by these songs all together is their greatest asset and business card, as an already intense touring band. The lyrics may tend to over use the second person and direct quotations of romance and love behind the instruments, but then again if that is the center of the tendencies meant to be spread by this creative work, then so be it; The brawn of the instruments and the different hues of the voice could maybe use a different approach on the lyrics, but then again, isn't love what makes the world turn?
