Let me begin this review with a grumble: how come there are so many average, dull, repetitive power metal acts that have a strong following of fans and their records sell hundreds of thousands world-wide, whereas really quality bands like Tad Morose only appeal to a small core of people? I think power metal fans should look further into their favorite music instead of remaining attached to the same bands, and I also believe it's high time for Tad Morose to earn the recognition they deserve.
Now that I've got this off my chest, I can only say that Matters Of The Dark, Tad Morose's fifth full-length CD, is one of the most interesting power metal albums I have listened to for a long time. The Scandinavian metallers show much respect to the decade before last (if it hadn't been for the modern production you could well have sworn it is one of the hidden gems of the 80's), but have a plain orientation to the future as well. Matters Of The Dark reveals a band that lacks neither technique, nor talent, either it comes down to mid-tempo songs or fast, in-your-face tracks. And their sound is a neat combination of mass, aggressiveness and melody, in other words what a real metal fan would ask for!
After almost a decade of constant discographical presence, Tad Morose seem ready to take the big step. I liked their previous CD Undead a lot, but in my opinion this is even better.  If you are into power metal, buy Matters Of The Dark and you won't be disappointed.
