Tears of a Clown

The Syr Darya is a river in Central Asia. These guys have a fantasy & fictional theme to many of their songs. Such as Randall Flagg who is a fictional character created by Stephen King, who has appeared in at least nine of his novels. Losers' Club is a group of seven preteen misfit children who all lived in the fictional town of Derry, Maine. They are the main characters and protagonists of Stephen King's bestselling novel IT. Of course, Elm Street needs no real introduction as to that reference.
"In The End" has a start that is almost an 80's Glam throwback. The structure and buildup holds its own very well. We have heard this Hard Rock Heavy Metal hybrid for years. The sound is good; the instrumentals are in balance and composed well enough. It's nothing new to us, but it works. The only downside is that this could be a release from an endless list of bands, hopefully we hear their own sound as the album progresses. "Virus" is another very generic song, the tempo is good, and the melodies are there in force and successfully. The vocals are powerful, which is exactly what you expect from a band like this. The instrument play has improved into creating a known ideal, but it's still nothing new. There is nothing wrong with this song, it's a decent song. If you like your music to sound similar, then these guys will fit in easily to your Hard Rock playlists.
"Elm Street", I would expected to hear something about Freddie here. Let's see. It's certainly slower this one, ballad speed. There is a reference to Freddie, the rhyme. Perfect addition. This is certainly more their own sound rather than a generic approach, good start. If Freddie ever wanted or needed a power ballad doing, it is this. The instrumental side of the band has come into its own. "Tears of a Clown" I can only image this is a Pennywise reference. The song has passed back to the more generic beat that was the same as the first two songs. Vocals are the same. There is nothing special shown here. Disappointing. It has also slowed down excessively for the speed the album had approached. The song does speed up into a good bit of solo sectionals, which really adds some missed flair into the song and picks it back up.
"Brother" has the same slow start, almost acoustic, buy you can hear the auto tune picking up there is less string heard. The approach is controlled from off the with pace dwindling. This is a balanced song for the elements that have introduced. It's not designed to really go anywhere, because it doesn't need to. The softer approach is executed perfectly. The slight kick in at the end can be heard coming, not as explosive as perhaps it could have been. "Mr Gray" has picked up the pace again after the ballad pace of "Brother", it is not up to the higher levels yet, it does seem to be rising. The tempo is ticking over, but not really going anywhere. Feels like a filler song. Still feels too generic for me. Feels like they could have more experimental guitars like in "Tears of a Clown", trick missed.
"When the Roses Fade" continues in the same lines as "Mr Gray". Its keeping the similar fashion of the songs well enough, but there is not enough mixing up styles. It's too safe. The issue with all the songs blending in is that is becomes a very boring process and it tarnishes the album slightly. The main issue is that there is nothing wrong with the album, but nothing special about it either. "Losers' Club" ticks over well, it has a tempo, which is not bad, and it has no outstanding characteristics. It is a story of IT parts 1 and 2, ok; it feels more like a team chant. It is an alright song; it doesn't really go anywhere or do a great deal considering the length. It is becoming harder to write about anything new in these songs.
"Red Silence" is very lively to start, finally a mix of styles. The tempo is even to get feet and heads moving. Vocals are too slow to match, but the tempo of the instruments does not slow too much, but as the verses, stretch out the tempo dies whilst vocals are present. When it is just instrumentals, it is a great song. "Randall Flagg" has a good start again, the tempo is decent. The last 2 songs on this album should have been placed higher. The melodic is a little generic, but as the beat is good you don't care. It's a strong end to the album, If this was the overall album sound I would have been happier.
First few songs are so generic I was starting to worry, but along cam "Elm Street" and set my mind at ease. Unfortunately, the overall sound is very generic but if that suits you then so be it.
