Surrender is a melodic/AOR powerhouse band formed on Long Island New York in 1995.Over the years Surrender have self-released four offerings which started in 1995 with the release of an EP “No Boundaries” ,before going onto release three full length albums “Ship Without A Sail” in 1997,”Full Circle” in 2000 and “Resurrection” in 2016.Despite minimal distribution the releases were discovered by dedicated fans of the genre and were well received, which is a testament to the bands dedication and evolution. The band have created a melodic rock sound which is in the vein of Danger Danger, Firehouse and many other giants in that particular genre.

Resurrection” is a reissue which is limited to 500 copies on Heaven & Hell Records, which I'm a huge fans of these sort of reissues of obscure bands, there have been some really good bands who have slipped through the net ,or for whatever reason did not hit the big time where other bands have. Surrender “Resurrection” is a perfect example of this ,the opening track “Always Where You Are” sets the direction of this album a mid paced hard rock/hair metal track which has a catchy melody and chorus. ”Jaded Heart” is an infectious track with a great sing-along chorus ,a great guitar solo. ”Somehow, Someday” and “Place We Call Home” have a slightly harder edge in the melody and guitar riffs which also scream out and ooze that sleazy, sunset strip vibe & attitude in the melody & vocals and the gang style backing vocals. ”Miss You Already” a hair metal ballad with the acoustic guitar melody, before breaking into a powerful chorus , a tear jerker track which back in the day would have been a sure fire smash hit a really great track. ”My Baby And Me” , “Another Rainy Day” are great rock n ' roll hair metal old school sounding tracks. Think Pretty Boy Floyd. Danger Danger those sorts of bands catchy as hell sing a long choruses ,melodies and guitar solos. ”Until You” is also in the same vein but is more of a pop/rock sound more polished, radio friendly. ”Where do We Go From Here” has a great big bassline from the start another great hair metal track, we then come to the last track on the album “Don't Walk Away” which finishes the album in style more hair metal, a great solo, with yet another great chorus thrown in for good measure.

Surrender “Resurrection” is a great hair metal/melodic album. If this album had been originally released in the mid to late eighties when this genre of music was huge Surrender would have had a huge hit album & would have been a big name. The album ten great tracks, one of which is a huge hit ballad in “Miss You Already”. This music still has a fanbase but not as big as it once was which is a shame. Highly recommended comes this album worth a listen or grabbing one of the limited copies of the cd.
