Influence
Supremacy
From their EPK, "After a lengthy pause due to the pandemic situation, their new album "Influence" will make its way out to the world next June. Mixed and mastered by producer extraordinaire Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios, the record "Influence" is a tribute to all of the band's influences, embracing a variety of sounds, instrumental virtuosity and various musical fields exposed in every song, which make the band unquestionably versatile on the rock genre." The album has nine songs.
"Passing Through" is the first. It's a mid-tempo song with plenty of melody, falling somewhere with the realm of Hard Rock/AOR. There is some strong vocal harmonies as well as some nice leads. "Mr. Big Shot" features Bruce Kulick (KISS). This song has a more gentle and melodic sway. Gus's vocals are quite emotional here, and the song brims with harmonies and a smoking guitar solo. "My Time" is another smooth offering with strong melodies. It has a bit of a sadder tone, but also a message of hope in the lyrics. With the sound comes waves of memories for me, flooding through time. "Dance for Me" is mid-tempo rocker with a dirty, sleazy riff and vocals done with a snarl. You can also hear some sex appeal in this song.
"Dancing with the Devil" opens with some atmosphere that speaks of regret, as well as some bluesy saxophone notes. It's another groovy song with a lot of melody, and so far, the band is showing diverse songwriting. "Dream of You" is a tender song done with a lot of emotion. Think back to the one that got away...that is the sentiment here. This is my favorite song on the album. It has such a memorable sound. "Sin Paradise" is another song with a strong melody, and the band has a penchant for these kinds of hooks. "Indigo Children" closes the album, and I love the hard rocking sound here. It's driven forward with purpose and confidence. The interplay between bass and rhythm guitars is really a standard that other bands should use. The balance is incredible.
Overall, this was fantastic album with a lot of melody, a band that clearly knows what they are doing, and has hooks for days. Given the sheer number of these types of bands out there today, coupled with the fact that this sound has been done a million times over, it's a very difficult feat to create something original. That's exactly what the band has managed to do here however. The songs are memorable, and you will be singing them for weeks to come. Get lost in the melodic passion of "Influence" by SUPREMACY.
