Formed in 2012 SUNLESS SKY already delivery their second full-length album entitled "Doppelgänger". Juan Ricardo, the singer, participates in his second project this year considering that he is also working on the album "The Hunt" of the band WRETCH. Juan is joined for this production by the musicians, Curran Murphy (lead guitars), Kevin Czarnecki (bass - guitars) and Coltin Rady (drums) to bring a world of fantasies and histories within the more traditional style of Power Metal, counting on some passages that remind us to bands Like CRIMSON GLORY and STEEL PROPHET, but in their own style.

"Starfall" is the first track of this work. It starts with an overwhelming rhythm and well-marked riffs, the characteristics of the genre, mostly in the 90's are detectable with a few seconds of the listening. Here we can also notice the beautiful harmony between the musicians and the vocals being a highlight of the band that lasts for all production. As a negative point, but that does not lose the pleasure of the listening, the song has some extreme shrills in the vocal that for me would be dispensable and also it follows throughout all the production.

 While "Doppelgänger" follows the same pace of the first track, "Kingdom Of Sky" enters in a more rhythmic road, with longer riffs and vocals. The highlight also goes to the well warm and worked solo here. "Lake Of The Lost Souls" is one of my favorite tracks, being very rhythmic and melodic. Counting with a very immersive lyric, and the best vocal performance mainly in the chorus. My other favorite song, is the last of the album "Black Symphony" that brings more weight on their guitars and a spectacular end with massive drums drums.

It is interesting to note that although it is common in the genre, the band chose not to have any ballad on their second album and I believe that they have made the right decision in doing that. "Doppelgänger" is a work formed of considerable talent of its musicians, but it lacks a little on creativity, personality and a poor variation between their songs. I believe the band can improve and show an even better job on their next album.
